Trevor glanced up as Simone stomped into the room, her lower lip in an extended pout. “Harumph,” she grumbled. “I want something more than an ice hockey face mask to wear for Halloween, Trev. But Annie said we shouldn’t waste money on scary costumes to wear only one night of the year.” She folded her arms and jutted out her chin. “I asked how this was different from buying an evening dress for a fundraiser when it never gets worn again.” Her big eyes filled with tears as she added, “Kind of made her mad since I’m still in time out for that remark.”
Trevor patted her arm and chuckled, “Uh, my adorable sister, the rule is never to point out parent inconsistencies when getting lectured. I bet we can develop something you’d like with a little imagination.”
Simone straightened some and arched her eyebrows. “What do you mean? Are you thinking about putting that metal cullender on my head again? With that playback device taped to my back announcing in that deep voice over and over, Join me, and together we’ll rule the neighborhood as powerful siblings. The kids teased me the following week, calling me Shorth Vader. Ugh!”
