I Never Told You But
Summer Road Trips Part One
Simone hefted the extensive photo album from the bookshelf and hoisted it to the table, leveraging her knee. The thick scrapbook banged as it hit the wooden surface. She heard her brother’s footsteps from the doorway behind where Simone stood, catching her breath.
“Whatcha doing?” Trevor asked.
“I was nosing around the bookshelves and found this photo album labeled Swan Road Trips. I thought it might have some cool pictures of Boss’s motorcycle named Swan.”
Trevor smirked. “I never told you, but Boss used to load the camping gear that would fit on Swan and take trips. He would ride all over Texas looking for neat stuff and stay in state parks.”
Trevor opened the cover and nodded with a grin. “Ah, this is one of his best trips. I’ll read you the narrative he wrote.
‘Ah, summer and road trips on Swan, the best road trip buddy you can have. This Harley takes me to exciting places in Texas. There’s a rich history throughout Texas with well-kept state parks, small towns, friendly people, and miles of country roads. You learn to pack differently when you take the essentials to survive. You pack a tent, sleeping bag, and enough film to capture the sights for memories. You buy fresh food daily, supplemented with freeze-dried delights. The easy, simple life. Here we go.’”
Simone scrunched her nose feeling confused. “Trev, what’s film? How does it capture anything?”
