I Never Told You But…

Simone’s pretty blue eyes narrowed, staring suspiciously at Trevor with her lip quivering, she questioned, “Trev, what do you mean we’ve got to work on Thanksgiving Day? Today is my first Thanksgiving after coming to this family. I looked forward to turkey, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, and rolls for dinner. Maybe pumpkin pie for dessert if I wasn’t too stuffed. Does this family not give thanks for all the wonderful things in our lives?”
Trevor patted her shoulder smiled broadly, and announced, “I never told you, but we go to the homeless shelters on Thanksgiving to help distribute food to those looking to eat. Boss and Annie believe we have many blessings, and helping others to get something to eat in a country that is the land of plenty should be something that everyone can do.”
“We help hand out food to homeless people that live on the street?” she asked, her skin turning pale. “Trevor, they scare me.”
“Boss told me he ran out of money once at a comic convention. He ended up sleeping in his van to keep enough money for gas to get home.” He placed his arm around her and pulled her closer to his side. “Friends asked him to go with them to dinner, and they wouldn’t take no for an answer.
