I Never Told You But…

Simone’s eyes were wide open in wonder. “Look at the snow. The flakes are huge. Has it always snowed this much for so long?”
Trevor sighed, “No. Snow this plump hardly ever happens. Boss and Annie have orders not to go out into it when it does. Darn it.”
“We can go play in the snow, right? The steep side of the driveway looks perfect for sliding. Let’s get the dish and the snow shovel you mentioned last week. We’ll build a downhill run.”
Trevor frowned. “I never told you, but we’ve tried to build a downhill run with these winter storms. Something always went wrong. After the last one, Boss locked up the sledding stuff so no one would get hurt. Simone, we can’t get to the dish or the snow shovel.”
“We can’t go sledding down that slope?” Her eyes teared up as she protested. “We’d waste a terrific snowstorm!” She narrowed her eyes at him. “What aren’t you telling me?”
“The first time we had snow like this, we couldn’t get to the top of the driveway without falling. Boss groaned after the second fall that we needed cleats. Adding cleats to our shoes would prevent us from slipping on the icy driveway. Boss went in to order some, but I kept trying. I got to the top with the dish by using the grassy areas. I looked across the beautiful slope that felt like Mount Everest, ready to rocket my way down.”
