I Never Told You But
Simone crept past the open door of the home office, where lights from the equipment flashed, but the heavy silence felt like a heavy blanket of snow. She tiptoed to the den and spotted her brother. He was perched on the furthest corner couch, reading a book using the light from the afternoon sun.
She crawled up close next to him and whispered, “Trev, why is Boss so quiet? Even during work hours, he’s usually got a teasing comment, smiles at something he read, and playful hugs with Annie. Boss hasn’t chased us with his homemade bamboo spoon to remind us to finish our chores. But this week, he’s moped around in silence. What’s wrong?”
Trevor sighed and patted her arm. “I never told you, but Boss was trying to make a lot of money investing in a cryptocurrency exchange called Binance and using their BNB digital currency. Late last week, the worst thing happened when hackers drained two million BNB tokens — about $570 million U.S. dollars at current rates. Binance’s loss placed Boss’s finances in the negative.
