I Never Told You But

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. The sun shone brightly, and birds chirped as they danced their winged ballet. Trevor snored a bit in a deep sleep. Without a touch of guilt, Simone shook his shoulder. “Come on, Trev. I need you to get up and help me.”
Trevor rolled toward the voice and squinted as if focusing. He moved to sit on the edge of the bed with his feet on the floor.
Simone looked over while she raced around the room, getting dressed. When she glanced back, he lazily rubbed his eyes and yawned.
“Simone, today is Saturday,” he protested. “Why are you messing with my sleep in the morning?”
Simone didn’t slow as she pulled on her socks and squirmed into her shoes. “We discussed doing something nice for Boss and Annie for Valentine’s Day. This year it lands on a school day, so I decided we should make breakfast as an early present from our hearts to theirs.” She jumped to her feet. “Hey, start getting ready.”
Trevor rolled his eyes, then followed with his head so it could land back on his comfy pillow.
Simone frowned at him. “Come on, Trev. Please get up. I have a couple of recipes we need to make before they’re awake.”
